NPC Designer (Dungeons and Dragons 3.5e NPC Generator)
NPC Designer - 3.5 NPC Generator
NPC Designer is the most advanced npc generator available for the Dungeons and Dragons 3.5e (d20 OGL) game. It is easy enough to use that you can be creating non player characters within seconds after installing yet more than enough functionality available to make it fit perfect for your game. This software can answer any of your NPC Generator needs, doesn't matter if it is for game preperation or winging it at the gaming table. With this npc generator on hand you can handle whatever direction your party decides to go.
NPC Designer is different then most NPC Generators that exist today because not only does it allow you power and flexibility but also gives it to you on your computer for any time you wish to use it. You can also edit, modify and develop your own material that will work right along side the existing scripts giving you the ability to randomly generate npcs that no other NPC Generator can duplicate. If you decide you want a few key things such as skills and feats, all you do is select them initially and press "Generate", NPC Designer will then do its best to fit those things selected and apply them to the NPC you generated. Once you get your feet wet editing and developing scripts there is no end to the amount of modifations you can create, making NPC Designer your NPC Generator. Just as the rules for Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 allow you to create your own game so should your tools
Monte Cook said it best when he described NPC Designer:
"Even before 3rd Edition D&D came out, while I was working on Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil, I asked for a computer program that would generate random NPCs that fit the rules. I wanted it to be customizable, so that I could not only select basics like the race, class, and level of the character, but also tailor it so that the resulting character's skills reflected a general concept (and of course, so that the skills all made sense together, rather than just being totally random). And I wanted it to generate equipment appropriate to the character, befitting its level. I wanted it to layer on templates and prestige class levels as well as handling regular multiclassing, and I wanted it to cover things far beyond just the core Player's Handbook races"
NPC Designer - 3.5 NPC Generator Features
Races | The base SRD is iincluded, it is possible to tweak current races or add your own new race. The NPC Generator will allow you to create races that generate exactly as you envisioned. |
Monster Races | You are able to create non player characters with classes and templates for monster races like dragons, demons, devils, dragons and many others. |
Advancing Monsters | You are able to advance monsters with ease, simply increase the HD to the desired number and the scripts will take care of all the work for you. |
Epic | The scripts are able to handle most epic level rules you desire. This was left this open so that people could create their own epic systems. |
Racial Paragons | Want to take your races to the next evolutionary step, the NPC Generator is able to handle the rules for you. The basic race scripts are included for you to use and learn to create new ones. |
Bloodlines | One of the few NPC Generators able to handle bloodlines, all of the normal bloodlines have been added and you can create new content and add your own. |
Templates | You can select and apply a single template to the NPC when generated |
Classes | Each non player character can have up to 4 classes selected. Each class can be a maximum of 50th level. (If you really need it higher just ask) |
Prestige Classes | In addition to the 4 classes, you can also select 4 prestige classes. The requirements needed for the prestige class will be taken into account during the generation process. Each class can be a maximum of 50th level. (If you really need it higher just ask) |
Skill Selection | The npc generator engine goes well beyond just random selection, it takes things like background , race and region and past selections into consideration. It even knows what the skill qualifications are for things like feats and prestige classes so your npc can be created exactly like you wanted. |
Feats | Go beyond just normal feat requirements, you can also design your own to fit your world or use them to enhance the generation process. The npc generator engine takes all the guess work out, just select what you want and it figures out the rest or leave it all up to the npc generator engine and it will select things for you. |
Spells | Add your own and have them selected intelligently based on alignment, deity and even feats. You can also create spell chains to further enhance the selection process. You can even change the selected spells after words in case the spells do not meet your exact desires. |
Stat blocks | NPC Designer includes a few different stat block formats, including those specifically for other applications (Fantasy Grounds and DM Genie). Stat blocks are scripted so you can alter or create your own. Want the stat block to contain a short stat line and then the larger block afterwards, you are free to design these things however you desire. |
Game Ready Cards | NPC Designer has its own 3x5 card format for every NPC it creates and exports them as an image or print. I have seen many DM's use index cards with npcs on them over the years and felt this was a critical feature for any good tool. |
Equipment | Equipment is generated for the NPC based on class and level, you can also have equipment selected based on race, alignment and many other factors. Looking for an NPC with a specific item or items, the designer screen allows you to tap into the npc generator engine and do just that. |
Designer Screens | Everything done in the npc generator engine is available to you to use as is or change to meet your gaming needs, you can even use it as an example to create your own scripts. These designer screens are created to allow you to get as close as possible to the NPC you envisioned. |
Script Based | Everything done in the npc generation system is available to you to use as is or change to meet your gaming needs, you can even use it as an example to create your own scripts. No one can think of everything but with it being script base I didn't have too, make any changes you desire and create your own campaign world within NPC Designer. |
Game System | When installed NPC Designer has been developed to handle npc generation for the Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 d20 OGL role playing game however you can develop your own dataset for other OGL games or even your own homebrewed gaming such as I am doing for my Underdark Campaign, stay tuned for it to be released for all to enjoy. |
