Underdark Campaign Setting: Plane of Dreams

When several of the planes existed in a single spot for a moment in time there were some residual effects, here are some of the effects that come from the plane of dreams.

Dream Matter (Exotic)

When dream matter is found in its natural untouched state it appears to be part of the darkness around it and for purposes is invisible, it does not exist in reality until a sentient being touches it and wills it into some kind of shape in reality (requires a successful Will save DC 20).  If he is successful he can change the dream matter into whatever mundane medium size or smaller object he can imagine, items from the equipment list, armor, weapons, etc.  He can easily create a rope or a ladder however he cannot change it to a wand of fireballs or chainmail +3, he also cannot change it into a lantern with oil (but could change it into the lantern or the oil). Once changed it will remain in this form until another successful Will save changes it to a new form or if it is within 10 feet of a creature while he sleeps, there is a 95% chance it will change into some other random form from the dream or %5 of the time it will turn into a phantasmal killer and attack the sleeping creature.  This will only happen to one sleeping creature, if there is more than one creature sleeping it will attack one at random.

Dream matter is an odd item that is never measured in quantity, you either have some or you don’t.  The only time there is an exception to this is if you find dream matter in its original form and even then everyone there can take some.  Once the dream matter is removed from its original source it cannot be separated, you either keep it or you give it to someone else.

Value: 1000 gp (If you can find someone selling “some”)

Dream Item (Exotic)

Dream items are things that were literally items that were stolen out of dreams when the Lake of Spires region was created.  It is unknown if any new dream items have been created since this point or exactly how many dream items exist at this time.  It is theorized that when several planes existed in the same moment and in the same location some of the items fell into different planes when the forces of the universe attempted to correct the situation.  Those items that fell out of the dream plane and into reality because quasi-real items or more commonly referred to as dream items, because they are quasi-real it means that no magic location or divination can find a dream item.

A dream item can be any normal item, magic item, plant or even a creature but one thing in common is any dream item will appear to not quite be what it appears to be or appear to be odd in some way (Example, gold coin that is a dream item may not have the same luster that gold does or a dog that is a dream item may have eyes that are constantly changing colors).  Most people have no idea even what a dream item is however they may notice the oddity of a dream item.

A dream item either exists or does not exist at the whim of its owner.  The owner of a sword for example can simply will the item not to exist causing it to vanish completely then a moment later cause it to exist again in his hand with a thought.  To gain control over a dream item a person must make a Wisdom check (DC 25), if successful the item will exist or not exist based on the controller’s desire, a dream item can only be controlled by one person at a time and if someone wishes to regain control over the dream item they must hold it and repeat the successful Wisdom check.  Each time an dream item either caused to exist or cease existence, the owner must make possibly 2 Wisdom checks (DC 5).  If the owner fails the first check the item is released and no longer owned by anyone (The process to take ownership must be completed again), if the first check fails there is a second Wisdom check (DC 5) and if this fails the item loses its dream item quality and remains in its current state of existence permanently.

Value: 1000 gp or x10 the normal item value.
