We move along the tour of the massive Lake of Spires area, this is the start of the last row for Campaign Map #3. Earlier this week I released the full campaign map for the underdark setting with the hope that it gives everyone a good idea how these water map panels fit together. At the moment you may not be able to see how or why your group will be using the lake but give that a little time until you see what exists just north of this campaign map. There are quite a few moments for a dungeon master to engage their players in a great many different activities, from combat, rescue missions, diplomacy and even negotiations.

Though I know I am only half way done with the releases of the map panels for Campaign Map #3, I am far enough ahead of schedule again where I am already starting to work on Campaign Map #4 and figured was a good time to update the underdark map completely. You should take notice (or warned) that the full campaign map is 18 inches by 24 inches. You can see now all 25 of the individual map panels put together and how I invision this massive place as it unfolds. There are two different underdark city maps I am starting to work on in addition to the normal panels for the passages getting to them, first is the small town that lives in the spires above the water and the second is the drow city which will be at least the size of a full campaign map in itself.

This underdark map section extends the border of the Lake of Spires and reveals a few more rock formations breaking through the surface of the water. While these parts might seem a little boring they are just as needed for a complete map and campaign setting, this gives your adventuring group something to travel through, a place where wandering encounters, ambushes and the unexpected can thrive. In my campaign these locations will be where my adventures get their first introduction to the sahuagin and learn 4 valuable lessons, there is no such thing as a safe place and the drow are not the only enemy.
In the actual lake itself it will be a prime moment for your brave adventures to learn about the other enemy of the Lake of Spires, these encounters should not go lightly and an unprepared party could find themselves sinking to the bottom as a corpse.

Recent site changes and all of the free RPG stuff
Now I know some people might think it is because I am a nice guy, which I think I am but there are other reasons as well and felt I should go into such things. This site is much more than just free dungeon tiles, maps or whatever else I desire to offer here, it is my way of giving back to a game I enjoy and testing a new business model.
Let’s face it, none of us are rich or won the lottery so we work or at the very least would like to get a return on the time we invest in projects so rather than charge people for NPC Designer like I used to at one time or charge for dungeon tiles, maps, generators or content I decided to put ads on the site that should be of interest to whatever page you are on and this site gets paid when people take a moment and check out the site on the ad. Everything is legit, it is merely a business model that has worked for many other sites. This method cost the users of the site nothing, so I look at it as a win- win situation for all.
The second reason is I love dungeons and dragons, been playing the game since I was 8 and based on my current age that has been for a very long time. I can still remember my first dungeon master using those small pamphlet style books running the game and how clueless I was when first starting out but in time that changed, this is my way of giving back to the next generation of players. Offering them some hopefully good quality gaming aids to assist them in learning and enjoy a game I have enjoyed for so many years.
The last but not least reason is thanks to Chris West I am learning photoshop and how to draw maps, in my opinion still have a long way to go but I am at the point where only practice makes you better. What better way to practice by also giving back to the role playing community with maps they can use in their game, who knows you may even find some new content here you can do as well.
So if you find something on the website that interests you by all means take a moment and look at it, download it and enjoy it, if you have a blog or a website a link to this website would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Just because you are underground does not mean you have to miss out on all the unusual opportunities that come with exploring the underwater reaches of a vast water way. As the history of this region is explores you will no doubt find many ways to exploit this region for adventure. Your adventuring group just needs two things to make this possible; a reason to go and a way to exist there, hopefully we can provide both of those.
