Underdark Campaign Setting - Lake of Spires: 3.5e Slave Auction Price Guideline (Abaxtor Slave Market)
Slave Market Price Guide (D20 – OGL – 3.5e)
First let me state that this article, website nor author condones slavery in reality. There have been many forms of literature that have used slavery as a backdrop for the flavor of the time. Even in the history of this world many cultures at one time or another have used slavery as a source of income and a means to accomplish manual labor. This goal of this article to help dungeon masters to bring this flavor to their campaign. If you watch the movie 10,000 BC it will give you a glimpse into a culture that uses slavery. This article will hopefully add a new level of depth to the Abaxtor Slave Market.
There are several assumptions made for this guide to work effectively, that the community or slave market where slaves are sold and purchased it is legal to do so, if this is being done on the black market then prices should be raised considerably based on the enforcement of such laws. It also assumes that this is something done by the rich and powerful, not farmers looking for someone to do their crops for them.
Individual Slaves
To figure out the price of a slave you will need to consult Tables 1, 2 and 3 to arrive at a base price for the slave. Then you modify the base price based on the values from Tables 4 and 5. The idea is that the class, level and race will give you a good starting point for the price of a slave and that if they are old or young or have poor or exceptional statistics will affect this alter the end price of the slave. This will give you a general price of the slave however if the slave is being sold at an slave auction, this price could easily be lower or higher than the selling price.

Notes
- Other Base Classes: Find one that resembles from the list above using it as a guide
- Race with a level adjustment: 200 gp per point of level adjustment
- Prestige Classes: In some cases just following the primary class will do but it may fit to use a different price because it has a closer resemblance to another class. Example: The assassin prestige class resembles the rogue class.
- NPC Classes and PC Classes are different so I suggest maintaining that difference with pricing of new classes. The adept, aristocrat, commoner, courtesan, and warrior classes do not have the same power of player character classes.
